THE YEAR I HOMESCHOOLED, TOOK MORE FAMILY PHOTOS AND DRANK WINE.
Two photoshoots, two weddings and a whole lot of time on my hands.
Normally at the end of the year, I post my favourite photos from the 30 plus weddings and 20 plus pre-wedding shoots I am privileged to photograph.
Not this year, we all know why we all know 2020 will go down as one of the worst years of our lives.
This year I photographed two pre-wedding shoots and two weddings. Not the amount I wanted but all an honour to photograph and I look forward to photographing the parties to follow.
I did get to spend a lot of time with my kids, for someone who works a lot of weekends this was a rare treat. I homeschooled and learnt more about Maths than I ever did in school, I wore joggers more than I ever have and stopped wearing my watch, I started drawing again.
I cooked, I baked cakes, I drank wine, I changed our dinner time so the whole family could sit down and eat together, a positive that has stayed a staple of how we now do things.
I set up a virtual movie night with 5 of my mates and every Saturday we watch cheesy films and drink a few beers, something we are still doing and have done nearly every Saturday since April. It’s allowed some normality to a year when at times I wasn’t sure if I would have a business to go back to.
This year has been tough, not just for me but for the many couples planning their weddings and the many businesses trying to keep their heads above water.
This year has also been an eye-opener on how you can do things differently on how somethings are more important than work and money. Somethings I took for granted when I was run off my feet staying up late editing and somethings I never knew I needed.
So this has been my 2020,
Two photoshoots, two weddings and a whole lot of time on my hands, the longest and somehow quickest year of my life.
